Well! It's been a few since we've written any blog post, and with good reason. We've been super busy like the rest, but work, growing, and enjoying the weather has been the priority! We're so appreciative of everyone, the customers, the friends, and the stories! Thank you so much for helping us grow and become a larger contribution to the community! Here's the latest!
We Recently got a Horse and a Cow. Ok, a mini horse/Pony? It's more like a Pony I suppose but at 1/2 a horse power, he's great! We received him from a friend who wanted to give him more opportunity and more friends! First a little about him. He's a Shetland Mini Pony. (We think) and he's cute as a button. He can be spicy, not friendly to females for some reason, but does ok with most.

He has a sense of humor, laughs, and even bites from time to time. All in all, we got him, and we're so happy to add him to our collection of animals. We're very well versed in most animals, but to be honest, we're not so much knowledgeable about horses. We understand how they eat, and how to feed them, but not so much about how they behave, interact, and overall how they think. So a pony seems like a good start, and helps us understand at least some basics of their behavior. His name is Bullseye and he's been a fun addition to the farm none the less. He's 5 years old approx. (we think) and is spicey like everyone says a pony is. We'd love to get 1 to 2 full size horses eventually and add them to our collection of nutty animals. This is a good start to learn from, and is certainly teaching us things about these majestic animals we never knew.
We also got a Cow!!! A registered Jersey Milk Cow, aka Grass puppy! She's only 6 months old when we got her, now 8, and wow are we learning lots about big animals. First... when they are on the move, you'd best get out their way! It's like a small car running at you, while you hope they can find the breaks! She's been so much fun, and we're , learning cattle now!

Her name is Bessy ( I know original right? ) but she's so cute and deserves the spotlight honestly. She's gentle, and curious. Skeptic above all, and slowly learning to hang out with all the animals. Her favorite animal to encounter is ... a cat. She has a fascination with cats!? There are a couple of field cats that hang out with her, and even sometimes jump on her back!!!. She loves them, and is very gentle, but gets very excited when a cat comes her way! She doesn't however fancy Bullseye yet. She runs, which then he runs, then there's 2 rather large animals doing laps around the property.
Everyone is asking us what our plans with her is. We are going to copy and paste (A.I) and not the robot kind either. It's a long road, but we plan to grow a small herd, and even expand that into more.
FAMILY TOURS
Due to construction, work, and just overall lots of work on the farm, we've been a little slack on farm tours this year. We're happy to announce that during the winter, we'll be doing select tours again, provided good weather, and bring more families out to view our nutty ideas and animals. If you are interested, drop us a line. The tour takes about 45-minutes to 1hr - Just remember there are no public bathrooms available currently.
Latest Feed Store Highlights!
What's the latest in the Feed Store!?! It's been amazing. Thank you so much for everyone's support, and we're happy to announce we are 'growing'! We're aiming to make more affordable feed for everyone, and more convenient. As you know the feed store is located in Maysville NC in the town Marketplace. We are only open to the public (for now) Saturday and Sunday, and Monday through Friday you just have to schedule with us for pickup or use a member door code.
We're on the hunt! For a new location addon in the Richlands area, and outside (North area)of the Holly Ridge area. If you know or have some ideas, we're looking for a location to put a 40x14 building, portable, with solar capable, no permits, and no power needed site. We're ready to expand out sites out to make it easier for everyone to reach us! Throw us your ideas or suggestions at info@littleplanesfarm.com
BUGS AND BAGS!
As we exit summer, we noticed a few feed bags contained bugs! OH NO! What does that mean? Well, it's not a dangerous thing, but it is a concern to us. Sometimes mills bring bugs, and bags can get infested. Temperature is a key element in this effect. For chicken feed, this is just extra feed, and most people actually welcome it. However, it can damage feed and cause mold if gone unchecked! Rest assured, we are constantly monitoring our location to ensure there are limited bug or beetle exposure. IF YOU FIND BUGS, OR BEETLES, reach out to us and we're happy to replace the bag for you. We can't exactly cut into bags to check, and if we could we would. We want you to know and trust that we'll replace any bag your not happy with or is contaminated with critters.
We have 2 New Feeds, custom mixes that with the help of the Mill's nutritionist and help from some special customers, we've conceived the following new formulas!

Here's some Fun Photos and Videos from around the farm!

We appreciate everyone's support! Thank you for trusting us with feed, and animals support! Let us know if we can help, even if you just need advise, or information. We'll always do our best!
