It's Goose Time!

We started out with 7 African Goose eggs. They are huge by the way. About 3x duck eggs size. African Geese are from China actually. Not really able to find out how they got this label... None the less, we lost 1 initially that didn't appear fertile. Then down to 6, we hatched 4, and 2 were bad. Geese are a bit new to us. We're trying out best to get some new things in our supply, and this just seemed to make sense. We're still trying to get Emu eggs, but that's another blog post!

So 4, not bad! They actually look like big ducks when they hatch. I don't think anyone could tell they are geese. We are already in talks to get more eggs, and we're hoping these are hot for sales! The cool thing about these geese, is they aren't your traditional mean goose. Although they can be, and will if you only have 1, they will protect your flock, and other animals yes, but not as nearly as nasty as your nightmare dreams of geese chasing you down the dusty road until you hit the next county!! There are 4 pictured here, but the 4th one is in stealth mode. Can you find her?
Our plans are to keep 1, and sell the other 3. Then rinse and repeat. These are much harder than other eggs, and require daily chores and tasks. Turn em, cool em, heat em, roll em. It's a daily game of something that's for sure. We're happy with the outcome either way! Special thanks to Sun Coast Farm for the egg supply.

They specialize in meat products, and nursery special and hard to get items in Eastern NC. Contact us if you want to know more about them.
Prices for the Geese will be $25.00 for the males, and $40.00 for the females. Contact us now to get yours reserved, as we only have 3 from this batch! info@littleplanesfarm.com
